Wait… you mean I need to have a strategy to my social media and not just post and share?
Yep.
It‘s good to know who your talking to, what they want to learn and how often/when to listen in different social media platforms.
This isn’t just for Small Business Owners.
If you’re a professional and want to grow your network, get leads to grow your own book of business, get another rung on your career ladder completed - you need to have a game plan.
Here are a couple ideas for professionals to grow their presence:
Blog. Do not worry you don’t have to be a crazy good writer, you just have to be you. Your followers want to hear from you.. that’s why they follow. Think of it this way... when you’re writing a post - your talking to a colleague.. a friend. Have that kind of laid-back tone. Think about the articles that you read - what keeps you reading them? How long are they? This is a great way to share your knowledge and impress those “checking you out” to move you up the ladder.
LinkedIn Articles. I just spoke with another professional about these regarding strategy. If you blog - you can write an article. The article though stays on your LinkedIn page, with blogs-of course, the links will take you to your blog website. Here is the strategy part - do both. If you’re already writing a blog, copy/paste it as an article. Still share the blog link though other social platforms though. Boom. You’re looking polished on your LinkedIn profile and blogging for the rest of the interwebs.
Online Image. I know some professionals that have a separate personal social media accounts for their business- here‘s why that doesn’t work.
Over time, you forget that you have a “professional“ account and don’t post on it.
Understandably the reach is better on a personal page than a business page - it can be a lot to keep up with… as you should be posting on it everyday.
People that know you, your warm market, are more likely to work with you- so why are you cutting them out?
Honestly, just keeping your personal profile page cleaned up - remember, wherever you go, you are still representing you and your brand.
